How Can I Recommend Journals for Students?

The Library accepts recommendations for journals that should be available in the library for student use during the subscription request survey conducted around July each year. We ask for your cooperation in enriching the journal collection in the fields related to each department and course.

Budget and Distribution Location

• We use the Library's faculty recommended materials fund not individual budgets of faculty members and common budgets of departments etc..
• Materials are distributed in the library. We decide where to place the materials in the library.

What Kind of Journals?

• Journals in Japanese required for students' study and research
• International Journals
  *In order to comply with the "大学教育におけるグローバル化推進のための基本方針" (Basic Policy for the Promotion of Globalization in University Education), we appreciate recommendations for Journals written in English or other languages for international students and Journals to be used in classes using English.

• Journals for research use
  *If the journal is for research use, please purchase it with your personal research expenses or donated funds (Reference: this URL)
• Journals Already Held by the Library
  *In principle, we do not purchase duplicate Journals due to lack of shelf space and cost issues. Holding information is available on OPAC.

Notes on Recommendation

• A request e-mail will be sent to the person in charge of books（図書担当） in your department. The person should compile the opinions of the department and submit that to the library.
• Since the cost of recommended journals is paid from the same budget as the faculty recommended book fee, the more journals you purchase, the less money you will have for books that can be recommended in the following fiscal year.
• If some departments recommend the same title, the cost will be divided by the number of departments.
• We will contact you at a later date when We determine that an adjustment is necessary for reasons such as exceeding the faculty recommendation fee or having more than one person in charge of books in your department.
