How Can I Visit Another University Library?


 

Books or periodicals that are not owned by Shimane University can be read and copied by visiting the library directly.
If a letter of introduction is required, it will take about a week to process, so please apply well in advance.


 

Before Visiting

Books or Periodicals held by other universities may be available for copying or borrowing without a direct visit. In some cases, the same books or periodicals may be held by another university or public libraries in Shimane Prefecture. Please check the information below before considering a visit.

 

Visiting National Universities in Chugoku and Shikoku Region

You do not need to apply for a letter of introduction. Please present your Shimane University Student/Staff ID card when visiting.
Before visiting, please be sure to check the following information on each university library's website.

  • Closed days and opening hours for visiting library.
  • Availability of the materials you wish to use. In some cases, books or periodicals may not be available because they are on loan or being bound, or you may need to complete separate procedures for rare books, etc.

 

Visiting University Library in Other Region

Some libraries require a letter of introduction issued by Shimane University Library. Please check the website of each library for the necessary procedures to enter and use the library. If you are unsure of the detailed procedures, please contact us.

Issuance of an Introduction Letter

  • This is only available for Shimane University Students, Faculty Members and Staff.
  • Please fill in the Application Form and give it to the Service Desk or send it to the staff below by e-mail.
  • If a letter of introduction is required, it will take about a week to process, so please apply well in advance.
