How Can I Manage Books in My Office?

There are two types of books purchased with a budget: "assets" and "consumables". "Assets" books are registered as a University's asset and they need to be managed appropriately in each faculty's office and library room in a department. Please return the books to the library when you finish using them, or when you leave the university (retire or move out).

"Assets" and "Consumables"

Assets (hereinafter called books in a faculty's office)

• The books in your office, which labeled on the spine and put a bar code seal on a cover.
• The way to manage is as follows.
• The book list can be seen on MyOPAC.

Consumables

• If the book is consumable, you do not have a duty to manage.
• The book is not labeled or put a bar code seal.

If it is difficult to distinguish the book is assets or consumables, please contact the staff below.

Management of Books in a Faculty's Office

Returning

• If the book purchased with a budget became unnecessary, it must be returned to the library.
• Please be sure not to discard the book.
• When you leave or move out of Shimane University, all books in your office must be returned.
• When you return the book, detailed information is available at "How Can I Return Books to the Library?"

Inspection

• Books in a faculty's office need to be checked every year.
• We will notify you via e-mail and our website when the inspection period is approaching.

Loss/Soilure/Damage

When books in your office got lost, stained or damaged, please contact the staff below.
You may be asked to report the loss or give the same book, however, please contact us firstly.
